The area boasts a distinct small-town charm,
, with the village's bayfront vistas, quaint churches, and wide, tree-lined streets.
Further to this, due to its quiet way of life and small-town atmosphere It is home to 10,026 residents as of the latest US Census, of which 13% are 65 years old and older.
Who We Are
My name is Lia Beltzer, currently a senior in high school. In sophomore year, I founded CommuniCare, a non-profit organization with the mission of bringing the community closer together and encouraging teens to volunteer to help those in need. The inspiration behind CommuniCare stemmed from observing my neighbor struggling with simple tasks like taking out the trash and assisting others with pet care during unexpected emergencies. Coming from a background where my family is mostly abroad and my father travels frequently for work, I witnessed the challenges of not having a support system during times of need, such as illness or natural disasters.
Recognizing the significant elderly population in our community, with many living alone and in need of assistance, I saw an opportunity for neighbors to support each other without financial burden. By fostering a culture of kindness and mutual aid, we aim to not only provide practical help but also to cultivate meaningful relationships and strengthen the fabric of our community. Through CommuniCare, I hope to inspire a sense of unity and empathy among residents, especially the youth, to contribute positively to the well-being of our neighbors and create a more connected and supportive environment for all.
